Meteorological observatory
Hohenpeissenberg is a meteorological observatory operated by the German Meteorological Service (DWD), and a global station within the WMO-GAW network. It is located in Bavaria, approximately 50 km south of Munich, about 40 km north of the Alps, and 300 m above the surrounding countryside. The observatory hosts a wide range of instrumentation for atmospheric gas phase and aerosol measurements. For the basic characteristics of particle number size distributions and their relation with trace gas and meteorological parameters see Birmili et al. (2003).
